Karen
has been playing flute since age 11. She attended the Victorian College of the
Arts Secondary School and continued at the VCA for her Bachelor of Music Performance
with Honours and a further Masters degree. Karen also performed throughout and
undertook further study in Europe and the U.K through an Ian Potter Foundation
grant.
Karen
has recorded several concertos with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and has won
awards such as The Marion Isobel Thomas award, The Mozart concerto award, the
Leslie Barklamb Scholarship and the ABC/M.S.O Young Artist award. Karen has played
under the baton of esteemed conductors such as Sir Charles Mackerras, Marco Zuccherini
and Eivind Aadland as has performed with various artists and groups including
Kate Cebrano and The Whitlams.
